Dagdag pa niya, sa pananaliksik ng KWF, mayroong 130 katutubong wika ang bansa at ang ilan dito ay nanganganib ng maglaho. Casanova, Tagapangulo ng KWF, mahalagang mabigyang diin ang kahalagahan na ginagampanan ng mga katutubong wika sa bansang Pilipinas. Sa taong ito, ang tema o paksa ng pagdiriwang ay Filipino at mga Katutubong Wika: Kasangkapan sa Pagtuklas at Paglikha.Īng pagdiriwang ito ay pinapangunahan ng Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino o KWF - ang tanging tanggapan ng pamahalaan na binigyan ng mandato na magsagawa, mag-ugnay, at magtaguyod ng mga pananaliksik para sa pagpapaunlad, pagpapalaganap, at preserbasyon ng wikang Filipino at paglinang ng iba pang mga katutubong wika sa Pilipinas. Itinakda ng nasabing Proklamasyon ang buwan ng Agosto ng bawat taon bilang Buwan ng Wikang Filipino. 1997, ang Komisyon sa mga Pilipino sa Ibayong Dagat (CFO) ay nakikiisa sa buong sambayanang Pilipino sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa.
